TIGERS RUNNERS-UP AT 2007 STATE CUP
The Arsenal Tigers U12 Girls had great success and a lot of fun in the 2007 State Cup advancing to the championship game unbeaten and unscored upon.
In the championship game, the Tigers met their match. A strong effort was not enough to overcome the talented and competitive team from Foothills Soccer Club (0-1) in regulation.
The girls have a lot to be proud of following their first experience at State Cup with victories over Penns Forest (3-0) in the semi-final, and Beading (2-0), Washington Victory Express (2-0) and Pittsburgh Football (3-0) in the division round.

LESSONS LEARNED AT THE MEMORIAL SHOOTOUT
The Tigers recently competed in the Family First Memorial Day Shootout in Erie. In this premier showcase tournament, the girls gained experience that will surely benefit them in future competitions.
Overall the weekend was a success with the team winning two out of three games in their flight – only missing the playoff round on goal differential. This record included a 3-2 victory against the eventual tournament runner-up Erie Admirals (who defeated Century United in the semi-final 3-2).
In the end, the turning point for the Tigers in the tournament was a 2-1 loss to IFC. In a game where they carried the play throughout – giving up only two scoring chances – the girls experienced a defeat that was memorable for its frustration (and sour taste it left behind).
The coach was quick to note that the outcome was determined by the team that made the most of its opportunities. The players took the high road by not blaming the defeat on the lack of support and encouragement provided by their parents!

MOON HS GIRLS SOCCER :: RUNNER-UP AT STATES
Moon lost, 2-0, to Downingtown West in the PIAA finals last Saturday at Hersheypark Stadium, the same team it lost to in the state title game in 2004.
However, long-time head coach Bill Pfeifer said he is proud of his team and the way it came back strong after last season's disappointments. Unlike two years ago when Moon was clearly outplayed, the Tigers got the better of the play this time against the Whippets despite arriving at the same disappointing result.
Pfeifer said Moon could make another push for the PIAA final. The pieces are in place for the Tigers to be a top WPIAL contender for at least the next three seasons because of their strong freshman class.

2006 HEMPFIELD TOURNEY
Hempfield Soccer Club hosted their annual USYSA and EPYSA sanctioned tournament for Boys and Girls Premier Teams in November in Lancaster, PA.
The Arsenal Tigers played in the U-12 premier division (top 5 of the 40 U12 Girls teams registered) and, although the team did not achieve our goal of winning the tournament, we played well with challenging weather / field conditions and managed ties against two of the top ranked teams in the Mid-Atlantic region.
